Do I need to bring a motorcycle to the course?

No. Motorcycles will be provided for you at your designated training site. Scooters are available at select locations and ONLY by reserving in advance. You must contact our call center to arrange using your own scooter. 877.308.7246

Do I have to take a test at Division of Driver Licenses Office?

Graduates of the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) are waived from further testing by the Division of Driver Licenses Office. Visit to see the requirements for obtaining your new license.

Do I still need to go to DDL for the endorsement?

To obtain your endorsement you must go to a Division of Driver Licenses Office. The fees vary dependent on additional criteria for your licensing needs. The average Motorcycle Endorsement will run $7.00. The average license replacement fee $25.00, with renewal $48.00. Visit to see the requirements for obtaining your new license.

What type of eye protection do I need?

Examples of eye wear are sunglasses, prescription glasses, goggles and shields. If you choose to use a shield as eye wear then the shield must be covering the eyes when you are on the motorcycle. See our Gear page

What type of footwear do I need?

Sturdy boots that fit over the ankle are required. It is recommended that the boot soles be made of a non slip rubber or neoprene and the footwear should not have high heels, dangling laces or strings. See our Gear page

Can I bring my own bike for the basic course?

You can NOT use your own MOTORCYCLE however under certain circumstances a student may arrange to use their own SCOOTER for class. A student wishing to ride a scooter may use their scooter if there is not one in our fleet at the Training Center. You must contact our call center to arrange using your own scooter. 877.308.7246

Do I need a permit to take the class?

You must have a valid Class E Drivers License to take the class.

Can I get a motorcycle only license?

To obtain a “Motorcycle Only” driver license you must
• Be at least 16 years old, and if under 18, hold a Learner’s License for one year with no traffic convictions.
• Pass the same knowledge test as for a regular Class E operator’s driver license.
• You must complete the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) or the Basic RiderCourse updated (BRCu) with an authorized Sponsor
• After you complete the Basic RiderCourse (BRC) or the Basic RiderCourse updated (BRCu), visit a driver license office or tax collector office that issues licenses and inform them that you completed the required course. Upon providing proper ID and paying the required endorsement fees your “Motorcycle Only” license will be issued.
• Your license will be restricted to operating “Motorcycles Only.”

What happens when it rains?

Typically, we ride. It is recommended that you bring rain gear if the forecast calls for rain.

Is the course offered in Spanish?

Yes. Spanish courses are offered at various training locations. Please visit our Basic RiderCourse page to check and see if your county offers courses in Spanish.

What time does the class finish?

End times change depending on class start times and of course weather conditions. The course is approximately 18 hours long including breaks and lunch. Plan on about 10 hours for range and 6 hours for classroom, both divided into two sessions each.

When can I take other advanced RiderCourse offerings if I am a new rider?

You will need to have the motorcycle endorsement to take any of the offered advanced RiderCourses. These courses are designed for riders who possess, at a minimum, the basic operational skills to maneuver a motorcycle. You should have successfully completed a Basic RiderCourse or have sufficient on or off-road experience and skill to be able to perform basic maneuvering and handling skills. These courses offer great oportunities for you to improve your riding skills:

What kind of motorcycles are used for the class?

We offer a variety of motorcycles to train with. Our fleet consist of a variety of motorcycles: Suzuki TU250, Honda Nighthawk 250cc, Honda Rebel 250cc, Honda Elite 80cc (scooter), Suzuki GZ250cc, Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc, Suzuki DR200cc, Yamaha Virago 250cc, Buell Blast 500cc, Kymco Agility 125 (scooter)

What happens if I don't pass a test?

If you do not pass a test you may schedule one retest, free of charge. You must schedule your retest with our call center. Retesting is not permitted on the same day of the original test.
